Linda Schaller | Skin Rejuvenation | Botox

Botox® injections (also known as botulinum toxin) quickly became one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments around the world. Usually focused around the removal and/or reduction of wrinkles, Linda and her team of nurses have been offering Botox® in Essex for their patients for a number of years now.

Wrinkles are caused by contractions of delicate underlying facial muscles each time you frown, smile or laugh. Smoothing them out by using fine Botox® injections has a local effect to dramatically soften, relax and result in a more youthful looking face.

Below we have included some key information regarding Botox® treatments to help patients understand the overall process:

How does Botox® work?

Botox® treatments block the impulses from the nerves to the tiny facial muscles around the injection site causing the muscles to relax, so that they do not contract. The overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled, whilst the untreated muscles contract normally allowing usual facial expressions to be unaffected.

How safe is Botox®?

Botox® injections have been used safely for over a decade to treat ophthalmological and neurological disorders. Each year thousands of patients are treated for a variety of conditions including non-surgical cosmetic reversals of the visible signs of ageing (i.e. Skin Rejuvenation).

What is the treatment like?

Using tiny micro-needles, a small amount of Botox® is injected very precisely into several locations on the face. Discomfort is minimal and brief with no sedation or local anaesthetic being required so you can resume normal activities immediately.

What are the side effects?

There are a number of temporary side affects from Botox® treatments.

How often will I need treatment?

Botox® injections are a temporary solution for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles with effects lasting up to 4 months. It is advisable for you to attend the practice in Ilford (Essex) to have injections repeated about two to three times in the first year. Clinical studies indicate that the duration of Botox® treatment increases over time, meaning you should require Botox® injections less frequently in the future.

What results can I expect?

After having your Botox® injections to smooth the dynamic wrinkles, you can expect to see improvements within 3 to 14 days with the final result being a relaxed.

Can Botox® treat Hyperhydrosis (Excessive Sweating)?

Yes, Botox® can be used to control excessive underarm sweating. The treatment consists of minute amounts of Botox® injected under the arm and the effects last for 4 to 7 months. A numbing gel is placed on the armpit for 30 minutes followed by the injections. The complete procedure will take about 60 minutes.

Is this treatment for everyone?

Restrictions for Botox® treatments include patients who are pregnant, breast-feeding, have a neurological disorder or allergy to any of the ingredients contained in Botox®.
